Networks Key Partnerships

Building strong, respectful relationships is at the heart of how we operate. Our key partnerships include iwi, hapū, government agencies, community organisations, and other Māori Wardens roopu. Through collaboration, we enhance our ability to support whānau, promote safety, and uphold mana within our communities. These relationships are built on trust, shared values, and a commitment to kaupapa Māori.

Tangata Tiaki/Kaitiaki

The Tangata Tiaki Pou are responsible for the care and protection of our customary fisheries and coastal resources. They administer kaimoana permits and act as guardians, ensuring that customary harvesting is managed sustainably and in line with tikanga and legal requirements.

Through their role as kaitiaki, they help protect the marine environment for both current and future generations, supporting the continued health and balance of our moana.

Nga Pou

Ngā Pou represent the core areas of focus that guide our mahi and reflect the needs of our whānau and wider community. Each Pou — such as the Cultural Pou, Health Pou, Environmental Pou, Education Pou, Rangatahi Pou, or Community Safety Pou — is led by dedicated Ngati Kuri Whanau who bring expertise, passion, and lived experience to their kaupapa. These Pou ensure our work remains aligned with our tikanga, responsive to emerging needs, and grounded in holistic support for wellbeing.
